He’s still convinced that the planes must be mastered.// - Silver Threads of Fate (LC1) |**Race:** | [[halfling|Halfling]] | |**Affiliation/Loyalty:**| [[king_s_guard|King's Guard]]/[[nalos|Nalos]] | |**Tool of Choice:**|[[taron_s_ring|Taron's Ring]]| |**Romantic Interest:**|[[amalia|Queen Amalia]]| ---- ===== Personality ===== Taron's motives may not be as altruistic as one would believe; >//"Taron wants to use [[azema|Azema’s]] power to conquer all of [[ulos|Ulos]]. Even so, it’s our job to serve him, trusting that the gods will see us through in the end.”// - [[mindle|Mindle]] - Eye of Ulos (RPA-ADV4) It is later revealed that he has personal motives behind the conflict; >//Together they give you a vision of Taron, sitting alone in this hall on one of two thrones. I had meant to meet him today.”// - King Taron, about [[tarik_nowlin|Tarik Nowlin]] - Silver Threads of Fate (LC1) His relationship with [[rose|Rose]] has been troublesome since their childhood days. She was in love with his future wife [[amalia|Amalia]]. The troubles grew deeper when she lost her father on a mission for Taron, motivated by his lust for power found in [[planes|planar]] artifacts. He was quite the mischievious youth in his days in [[jolev|Jolev]]. He and his cousins would often use [[bluestone_fireball|bluestone]] scraps as poppers to scare hogs on the nearby farms. Taron has fond memories of his time in [[jolev|Jolev]]. He and his friends explored much of the area in their youth, including a [[shadowy_cave|cave]] near the beach. They spent a good deal of time playing "Keepers and Krakens" in the cave. ====Family Secrets==== The [[demon|Demon]] [[elsifor|Elsifor]] laughs at the secrets Taron's family keeps; >//“Most folks in [[nalos|Nalos]] have a skeleton or two in their closet. Last you saw him, the king was still alive, having escaped into a rift. Taron opens his mouth as if to speak, but no sound escapes his lips.// - Ghost-Eaters of the Forgotten Forest (RPA-ADV7) * Interfere and attempt to save your king: * Lose favor with [[zerith|Zerith]] and go to cut off the [[ghost-eater|interplanar monster']]s tether to Taron: * Succeed, and receive the king's blessing, the [[ghost-eater|Ghost-Eater]] retreating into the [[forgotten_forest|forest]]. * Fail, and the [[ghost-eater|Ghost-Eater]] turns its attention to you, peeling your soul from your body before [[zerith|Zerith's]] intervention. * Watch its behavior and see what happens: * Gain [[zerith|Zerith's]] favor and hear the noises of the monster. After the climax at [[castle_carleval|Castle Carleval]], King Taron takes you to [[cutty_s_landing|Cutty's Landing]] to quell the song of [[dragon|Dragons]]. ==== Dragons of the Sunken City (RPA-ADV8) ==== In Adventure 7 at [[castle_carleval|Castle Carleval]], you rescued King Taron from the [[ghost-eater|Ghost-Eaters]]. He insisted that you accompany him to [[cutty_s_landing|Cutty’s Landing]], a port city on the eastern edge of [[nalos|Nalos]]. So begins the eighth adventure, the Dragons of the Sunken City. You accompany King Taron to a seaside tavern in [[cutty_s_landing|Cutty's Landing]] called [[golden_hope|The Golden Hope]]. Just before entering you see a [[taron_s_ring|ring]] slip unnoticed from King Taron's pocket; you retrieve it and put it on. Once inside the tavern you and the king hire a ship captain for passage to the [[isle_of_winter|Isle of Winter]] where [[vyrandore|Vyrandore]] resides. When you arrive at the [[isle_of_winter|Isle of Winter]] you and the king take a row boat ashore. From the water you can hear the [[dragon|Dragons']] song. At the shore you see great eagles. You and the king may catch a flight to [[dagger_peak|Dagger Peak]] on the back of a great eagle or a [[dragon|Dragon]]. At [[dagger_peak|Dagger Peak]] you meet Queen [[vyrandore|Vyrandore]] who reveals to King Taron that you have his ring. Queen [[vyrandore|Vyrandore]] would like to use the ring to aid in the singing to raise [[myrros|Myrros]], but King Taron wants his ring returned to him. Your choice with the ring will shift your allegiance to the [[dragon|Dragons]] or bolster it with King Taron. At the [[northern_archipelago|Northern Archipelago]] you and the king would encounter young [[dragon|Dragon]] named [[hakendrof|Hakendrof]] that is injured. With your help [[hakendrof|Hakendrof]] may live. It is also at this location that you and the king may discover some buried treasure. At the [[boiling_mists|Boiling Mists]] you and the king are escorted by either [[giselle|Captain Giselle]] or [[kaemon|Captain Kaemon]], whom informs you that the sunken city of [[myrros|Myrros]] lies 60 feet below. Here you may acquire the [[red_pearl|Red Pearl]]. At [[myrros|Myrros]] you and the king may encounter Queen [[vyrandore|Vyrandore]]. You may also acquire the [[red_pearl|Red Pearl]] here. ==== Gate at Brizoor Waal (RPA-ADVF) ==== Taron, atop a [[megapede|megapede]], fights against [[zerith|Zerith]] and [[urka|Urka]] in [[nebblis|Nebblis, Plane of Flame]]: * If you side with the [[king_s_guard|King's Guard]], you will fight alongside him: * If you defeat the opposition and are favored by the [[halfling|Halfling]], he will greet you amused. You claim the site, and find a red rune. * If you defeat the opposition and are disfavored by the [[halfling|Halfling]], you will meet his skepticism but claim the site, finding a red rune. * If you fall to the opposition, you stumble through a rift back to [[elsifor_s_tent|Elsifor's Tent]] at [[brizoor_waal|Brizoor Waal]] in defeat. ==== Silver Threads of Fate (LC1) ==== Making your way into [[taron_s_chambers|Taron's Chambers]], you find that King Taron and his [[king_s_guard|guards]] are frozen in place. He stands atop his bed, pack on his back, ready to leap into the rift that is opening above. Using his own [[taron_s_ring|ring]], you may free him from his temporal prison. Surprised to find you in his chambers, he assumes you cast a spell on him to stop his departure. He draws his sword for combat. * He calms down and finally speaks with you. * He bests you in battle and escapes. If he speaks with you, you will have gained an ally. He will need some convincing to stay with you for the entire quest, as he feels drawn to other [[planes|planes]]. >//“I did not expect the gods to be idle while I journeyed across the planes, But I will admit I did not expect Sleecrath to insert herself with such force. I do not know her full intentions, but dangers like these call on all of us to come to the defense of Nalos.”// - King Taron - Silver Threads of Fate (LC1) ---- ===== Backstory Appearances ===== ==== Resilient ==== King Taron gives you a choice of where you want to settle down when you are done with this adventure: * Become a farmer in [[jolev|Jolev]]. * Rebuild [[hallath|Hallath]]. * Join the [[frogkin|Frogkin]] in [[bogroot_swamp|Bogroot]]. * Run the Tavern in [[cutty_s_landing|Cutty's Landing]]. ==== Wanderer ==== You find a camp in the mountain pass, Saurian sisters are camped there.
