Symbols, Poems by Bertram Hoogna
A collection of poems written by Bertram Hoogna. Not everyone is a fan of his work.
A short message is written on the inside cover:
“To Gulpax, my beloved daughter. May you find the answers that you seek. Love, Glormax.” - Servants of Azema (GS-ADV2)
An introduction, written by the author himself, implies to the reader that this book is more than just poetry.
…it is “rich in symbols and imagery that work almost like a code for readers to unlock.” - Servants of Azema (GS-ADV2)

Poems
Honoring the gods
Referencing Azema's Key
For every dark feeling we seek to hide
A deeper passion and love burns from the inside
Turning the keys and opening the lid
Both bones and treasure in such boxes are hid.
Queen Gimnax
If I were the Queen’s advisor
I think I’d probably disguise her
As a scullery maid
With such a lowly wage
That she’d learn to spend like a miser.
This is my kingdom!” announced the queen
Atop a pile sand
Though none had offered her title and deed
To this little morsel of land.
“I’ll kill the crabs! Slaughter the fish!
‘Till none can resist my demand.
"Keys"
A pulsating heart aflutter
Like a bird’s majestic wings
The pig’s muddy hooves
A gutted fish that sings.
Treetop Village
