Queen Gimnax and Gulpax are former lovers. Their differing view points caused a rift to expand between the two of them.

She still harbors feelings for Gulpax, but the rift is too large for them to overcome.

You see Queen Gimnax seated by a campfire. She has a bundle of old letters in her lap. One by one, she tosses them into the fire. You notice that some were written by the queen herself. Others bear the signature of Gulpax the Crafter. - The Frozen Expanse (GS-ADV6)

As reported by the Immortal Knight Imbri, the growing conflict between Nalos and the Dragul began when the city-states did not wish to give up their freedom and join the crown;

Though queen, Gimnax does not hold herself loftily above her subjects, instead working directly with them;

He escorts you beneath a large canopy tent where you discover the queen. She stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Minotaur architects and Human workers as they pore over construction plans, dressed in the same simple green tunic as those around her. - Servants of Azema (GS-ADV2)

Taking things upon her own shoulders, Queen Gimnax may very well need your aid during the Battle of the Arcazion Pit.

Following the Battle of the Arcazion Pit, the stories regarding Queen Gimnax's involvement in the actual battle vary widely throughout Ulos. Supporters and detractors of the queen tend to believe the stories that best suit their political affiliations.

• Exaggerations of her fighting prowess abound, growing more ridiculous with each rendition of the story.
  • Some say she strangled a Dragon with her bare hands.
  • Others claim she defeated an entire regiment of Dragul warriors on her on.
• There are those who claim that during the battle, she lost her nerve and fled into the tunnels, leaving the fighting and the dying to others.

At some point following the battle, Queen Gimnax visits Gulpax in Treetop Village, perhaps for the final time. She offers a dire warning:
