Profession: Inventor
Creativity is at the core of an inventor. Inventing new and useful devices is an outlet for that creativity. Whether it be the three-necked luter, the pedal activated back scrubber, or the fortune-telling automaton operated by a hand crank, each is useful in its own way.
In Ulos, Gulpax is the most renowned of all inventors. All others hope to one day be at her level. To be spoken of in the same breath as her. To invent something that even she has not dreamed of. Perhaps one day.

Festival of Heroes (GS-ADV1)
You have been enjoying the festival. Many passersby have stopped at your booth and admired your many inventions. But none of been overly impressed. You can hear their whispered comments, comparing you to Gulpax. To them, your inventions are just toys meant for children.
You know the only way to truly become a great inventor is through inspiration. And inspiration requires exploration. Joining the Heroes Guild will give you the best way to see the world. And, with your creativity reinvigorated, perhaps you can rise above Gulpax and become the greatest inventor in all of Ulos.
Walking through your booth one last time, the comments of two customers confirm your plans.
“Interesting trinkets, but nothing compared to what I’ve seen at the League of Inventors in Sabek. You should see the work of Gulpax the Crafter!” - Customer - Festival of Heroes (GS-ADV1)
You say goodbye to your apprentice Dulmar. He notices your are armed and wishes you luck in the contest of champions. He promises to hold down the fort while you go on your adventure. You certainly hope he is better at that than he is at inventing.
Servants of Azema (GS-ADV2)
Having joined the Heroes Guild, you make your way to Gulpax's Workshop. Glancing around, you can't help but be envious of her many works. Clockwork creatures line the shelves of the workshop.
You pick up a Construct's eye. It is supposed to follow your every move, but something is clearly wrong with it. You being to make repairs.
“I didn’t realize you were a fellow tinkerer. Your workmanship is a bit rough. If you want, I could teach you a thing or two.” - Gulpax - Servants of Azema (GS-ADV2)
- Humble yourself and let Gulpax show you something. She is impressed with how quickly you learn.
- Impress her with your superior skills. Things do not go well. You silently vow to someday to be better than her.
The Hive (GS-ADV3)
Previously, your group may have been able to hide their scent using ichor obtained from Nayo. If so, you are able to travel the caverns of the Hive with very little resistence. Finding a group of Insectoids locked in an iron cage, you may decide to try to pick the lock. Your knowledge of clockwork inventions may just be the key you need. (GS-Guide-ADV3-34)
Without the ichor, a swarm of Insectoids captures your group. You find yourselves locked behind iron bars with other Insectoids. Ones marked with an odd “X” above their chest. You realize that your knowledge of force and leverage might help you open the gate and free everyone. (GS-Guide-ADV3-33)
Ascending Kethra's Steppe (GS-ADV4)
You are obsessed with Gulpax's Journal. You have studied it cover to cover, multiple times. Drawings, sketches, and notes all catch your eye. You have paid particularly close attention to some of her unfinished projects. Could you….?
- Redesign the “pedal-operated horseless carriage”. You cut the design down from four wheels to two. Balance will be important. And it must be lightweight.
- Focus on Gulpax's “box to capture light and shadows”. Sketching your own design, you realize you will need a special parchment to capture the image.
Next time you find yourself in a “proper town”, you will make sure to look for supplies for your prototype.
While in Lorkheim Village, which is not a proper town, you assist Eregrun as he attempts to fix Alpha-Zero. Hopefully your knowledge of working with metal will be of use.
Saurian Wasteland (GS-ADV5)
Your party has arrived at Hornhelm. Finally! A proper town!
If you had previously decided to work on the horseless carriage, you find a local blacksmith in town. With her help, you are able to create your two wheeled vehicle, complete with wicher seat and handlebar. A group of Saurian chidren watch in amusement as you attempt to ride…and crash spectacularly. But, with some practice and balance, you finally are able to ride circles in the streets while crowds cheer you on.
If you had previously worked on the light capturing box, you seek out a helpful wizard. A Saurian sorcerer patiently listens as you describe your invention. After much convincing, he provides you with the parchment. He evens poses for you as you capture his image. Others gather around to see this amazing feat.
Rumors spread quickly. Townsfolk are speaking about your inventions. They even are speculating if you might be better than Gulpax!
The Frozen Expanse (GS-ADV6)
Your party finds a Construct frozen in the wall of an ice cavern. It's chestplate is hanging open. You notice there are two empty circular slots where parts clearly have been removed.
Bending in closer, you get a clear sense of design. Studying Gulpax's Journal tells you that this is an older model that uses non-standard power sources. One spot is clearly for power and heating. The other appears to be for navigation. Perhaps if you could find those missing components, you could get the Construct operational again.
