Jeremy Duntum

Bumbling member of the royal Duntum family. A Human noble with a propensity for getting himself in trouble, first seen traveling as a beggar. Brother of Annabelle, son of Claudius and Dorothea. Cousin to Lady Emilia.

“My name is Lord Jeremy Duntum, and I always settle my debts.“ - Tome of Encounters (RPA-ADV5)
Race:Human
Affiliation/Loyalty:King's Guard/Nalos

Personality

Initially introduced as inept, Jeremy over time grows somewhat more capable and confident, eventually fighting nobly for Nalos in the final battle at Brizoor Waal.

Lady Dorothea Duntum, Jeremy's mother, knows him best;

Jeremy is half as clever as his sister but twice as confident. Annabelle has a sharp mind but a soft heart. She agrees with everything Jeremy says, no matter how ridiculous. I fear he will not be wise enough to rule, and she does not have the will or the discipline. But one of them must sit on the throne in Carleval when their father and I are gone. - Lady Dorothea Duntum, Ghost-Eaters of the Forgotten Forest (RPA-ADV7)

After being restored to Human form, it does not take long for the sibling rivalry between Annabelle Duntumand Jeremy to return;

Annabelle and Jeremy are inseparable at first, each singing each other’s praises, desperate to spend every waking moment with the other.
Before too long, however, you notice signs of an old sibling rivalry resurfacing. Though the youngest, Annabelle is better at just about everything, and Jeremy grows irritated and resentful. The rest of the Duntum family take sides, whispering gossip about one sibling into the other’s ear. - Ghost-Eaters of the Forgotten Forest (RPA-ADV7)
Jeremy was a bit of a clutz and a wayward son, but he loved his family and went to great lengths in an effort to find and restore his sister, Annabelle, who was lost to a cruel curse. - Gate of Brizoor Waal (RPA-ADVF)

Taron's Trophy (RPA-ADV2)

Appearing first in Jolev as a disheveled Human in a hanging cage, captured for allegedly stealing a prize pig with a notable spot shaped like a swan, Jeremy pleads for his freedom:

“Get me out of here,” he cries. “It wasn't me! I swear!” He shows you a few gold coins he’s somehow managed to keep with him. “Look,” he says, “they’re all yours if you let me out.” - Tome of Encounters (RPA-ADV2)
  • Free him, and he will pay you for your trouble, running off into the hills.
  • Leave him be and he will spit at you, later seen being taken to Kulbak Prison in a jailer's cart.

Outbreak in Undercity (RPA-ADV3)

If you released him in Jolev, Jeremy is next found fending off a group of children with knives in hand in Undercity, his finger caught in a trap box.

  • Move to scare the children away:
    • If you succeed, they scamper off.
    • If you fail, they take Jeremy with them.
  • Attempt to remove the box:
    • If you succeed, they scamper off.
    • If you fail, they chase Jeremy away.

Crack in Kulbak (RPA-ADV5)

If you allowed him to be taken away in Jolev, Jeremy is next found within Kulbak Prison playing a game of dice with Finchy and some of the other inmates.

If you offer his next ante he will walk away with more than 100 gold;

“Maybe I'll melt it down and make myself a golden suit of armor.” Lord Duntum laughs. None of the other prisoners appear amused. - Tome of Encounters (RPA-ADV5)

Ghost-Eaters of the Forgotten Forest (RPA-ADV7)

Encountered again at an encampment set up by the Abandoned Watchtower, Jeremy and his cousin Lady Emilia attempt to bring his sister back to her human form and reclaim Castle Carleval in the Forgotten Forest from the Satyrs.

  • If your previous run-ins with Jeremy were negative, he will engage you in combat:
    • Overpower them, and they abandon their camp, running off into the forest. You find a worn parchment.
    • Be overpowered, and you are saved when a Ghost-Eater startles the camp away. You run off into the forest with a worn parchment in hand.
  • If your previous run-ins with Jeremy were positive, he will try to assuage his wary cousin on your behalf.
    • Succeed, and convince Lady Emilia of your usefulness.
    • Fail, and Lady Emilia descends an attack upon you:
      • Overpower them, and they abandon their camp, running off into the forest. You find some worn parchment.
      • Be overpowered, but escape when a Ghost-Eater startles the camp away. You run off into the forest with a worn parchment in hand.
    • Steal Jeremy's bag and the contents therein:
      • Succeed, and lose them in the forest.
      • Fail, and engage the camp's forces in combat:
        • Overpower them, and they abandon their camp, running off into the forest. You find some worn parchment.
        • Be overpowered, but escape when a Ghost-Eater startles the camp away. You run off into the forest with a worn parchment in hand.

Returning to the Abandoned Watchtower, if you are still in good graces with Jeremy and Emilia and bring the pig from the Underwater Caverns to them:

  • Attempt to return Annabelle to Human form and succeed:
    • The siblings will be reunited.
  • Assist and fail and Annabelle grows to a half-Human, half-animal hybrid, running away into the forest.

At Castle Carleval, if you helped the Duntums reach Carleval, they will come to your aid fighting the ghostly enemies that ambush you and King Taron;

If you helped neither the Duntums nor the Satyr reach the castle, then you fight alone:

  • Swiftly defeat the opposition:
    • You have the chance to forge a new peace with the Satyr.
      • If you are able to broker a peace between the Duntums and the Satyrs, the two will coexist for the next one thousand years.
    • If you fought by yourself, you keep Castle Carleval to yourself.
  • Fail:

In reading the diary of his mother Dorothea, it is revealed how Jeremy found himself in Jolev:

I have asked my son, Jeremy, to take his sister to the Halfling town of Jolev. Several years ago, a witch’s curse turned Annabelle into a pig. She still bears the swan-shaped mark she was born with, but she is otherwise unrecognizable as my daughter. Jolev is rumored to be home to a powerful healer. I pray to Azema that they can help her. - Lady Dorothea Duntum, Ghost-Eaters of the Forgotten Forest (RPA-ADV7)

Gate of Brizoor Waal (RPA-ADVF)

Jeremy fights with floating, multicolor spheres against the Ogre Tog and the Halfling Rose within a vault in Mikto, Plane of Secrets:

  • If you side with the King's Guard, you will fight alongside him:
    • If you defeat the opposition and are favored by the Human, he will greet you warmly. You claim the site, and find a green rune.
    • If you defeat the opposition and are disfavored by the Human, you will be subjected to his ingratitude and claim the site, finding a green rune.
    • If you fall to the opposition, you stumble through a rift back to Elsifor's Tent at Brizoor Waal in defeat.
Jeremy Duntum stands atop a glass case, surrounded by several floating, multicolored spheres. He lets out his battle cry and slips from the case, falling to the floor.
“Defend me!” he shouts, and the spheres light up, encircling him with flashing multi-colored light. - Gate of Brizoor Waal (RPA-ADVF)
